The two industry’s main events for 2020 are canceled due to the COVID-19 situation. NAB Show New York will be held digitally, and Cine Gear Expo LA has postponed to 2021. Read their statements below.
NAB Show New York 2020: Cancelled
Today, the NAB Show management team has announced that the forthcoming New York Expo, which supposed to take place on October 21 – 22, 2020, will be canceled and converted to a digital event. The plan was to enhance the NYC event in order to compensate for the Las Vegas canceled event, which transformed into digital. However, because of the COVID-19 delicate situation, the NAB team has decided to cancel it. The announcement went out via email and pasted below:
Dear NAB Show New York Community,
Taking into account the health and safety of our show community, we have decided to transition NAB Show New York, originally scheduled for October 21-22, to a new digital event building on the success of NAB Show Express. This decision follows extensive surveying of our show community and consultation with state and local officials in New York, as well as the Javits Convention Center.
The online event will take place in fall 2020 and include TVNewsCheck’s TV2025 and Post|Production World Online, produced in partnership with Future Media Conferences, among other prominent conference programs. Our goal for the digital experience is to provide a valuable forum for the industry to restart, refocus, and reengage.
We are developing a robust platform for exhibitors to share product information, provide demonstrations, and make announcements. Additionally, the online event will provide premium educational content and unique opportunities for the community to network virtually. We will share additional details on the digital event in the coming weeks and months.
We look forward to your continued engagement and convening in person in 2021 at NAB Show in Las Vegas and NAB Show New York.
Sincerely,
Chris Brown – EVP, Conventions & Business Operations

Cine Gear 2020 Expo LA: Cancelled
The Cine Gear which is one of the industry’s main event was also been canceled. We reported here previously on the decision to reschedule the LA Expo to October this year, instead of June. However, the organizers have decided to cancel it. Read the statement below:
Dear Friends,
In an effort to protect exhibitors, sponsors, partners, staff, and visitors from the spread of COVID-19 we have decided to cancel the 2020 LA CineGear Expo. We are disappointed that this year we will not be able to deliver the Cine Gear Expo experience which our exhibitors and attendees look forward to.
Since March, when we last reached out to you, we have been carefully monitoring city and state mandates, and guidance from public health officials, in hopes of rescheduling. However, the climate of uncertainty persists so we now look ahead to 2021.
In the coming weeks, we will reach out to you with respect to monies paid. Thank you for your patience as we work our way through this process.
We are forever grateful for your participation in the Cine Gear community and look forward to the day we can come back strong and safely see each other again.
Sincerely,
Juliane Grosso, Karl Kresser, & the Cine Gear Team

Summary
As productions are starting to roll again, the social distancing restrictions are still valid. Thus, the cancellation of these two main expos is inevitable. Let’s hope that the next year will be the best year in cinema productions and filmmaking. No reason it won’t.
