Canon Published Major Firmware Updates for EOS C300 Mark III and C500 Mark II

Canon has published new firmware updates for its Cinema EOS C300 Mark III and C500 Mark II. The updates which are very much similar, are major and include an anamorphic de-squeeze option, power saving mode, enhanced joystick operation, and more.

Canon Cinema EOS: C300 Mark III and C500 Mark II

The Canon Cinema EOS Cameras C300 Mark III, and C500 Mark II, are defined as the high-end cameras in the Cinema EOS arsenal. Each device specializes in its filmmaking zone. The C500 Mark II is a 5.9K full-frame beast, and the C300 mark III specializes in high DR (Dynamic Range) and advanced color science due to its innovative Dual Gain Output (DGO) S35 sensor. New firmware

Today Canon has released a firmware update to the C500 Mark II (1.0.3.1) and C300 Mark III (1.0.1.1). This is a major update with a lot of good stuff in it. Here’re the fixes and enhancements included:

C300 Mark III 1.0.1.1

  1. Adds [XC Protocol]
  2. Adds [1.8x] to the Anamorphic De-squeeze setting
  3. Add 2048×1080/1920×1080 option to the 12G-SDI output when recording resolution is 4K or 5.9K RAW
  4. Adds MON.OUT and HDMI Simultaneous output option. (1920×1080p/i)
  5. Adds Look File function(3D LUT file .cube)
  6. Adds ITU-R.BT.709 standard-compliant Gamma [BT.709 Standard / BT.709] the to the Custom Picture
  7. Adds Power Saving Mode. (by restricting some functions)
  8. Adds [2x] option to the Magnification
  9. Adds [Mask 100%] to the [Aspect Marker]
  10. Adds the ability to update the MON.OUT/HDMI output from 59.94P to 29.97P (or 23.98P) has been added
  11. Adds the option for ‘same file name’ simultaneous recording in XF-AVC or Cinema RAW Light
  12. Adds “B&W during Magn.” as an option to the Assistance Function menu
  13. Modifies the default value of the assign button from “Magnification: Video terminal” to “Magnification.”
  14. Improvement in retaining recording settings when switching sensor modes
  15. Clips can now be played by operating the joystick
  16. Adds the Ukrainian language to the Language

EOS C500 Mark II 1.0.3.1

  1. Adds [XC Protocol]
  2. Adds Anamorphic resolution options of 4192×3140(4:3)and 3768×3140(6:5)when Sensor Mode is Full Frame when the RAW format is selected
  3. Adds [1.8x] to the Anamorphic De-squeeze setting
  4. Add 2048×1080/1920×1080 option to the 12G-SDI output when recording resolution is 4K or 5.9K RAW
  5. Adds MON.OUT and HDMI Simultaneous output option. (1920×1080p/i)
