After a few postponements, the highly anticipated Cine Gear, which is one of the major events in our industry (even more than NAB) is just around the corner. However, all participants have to be aware and familiar with the health and safety guidelines by The County of Los Angeles Public Health. That means, all attendees must be fully vaccinated, or negative tested against COVID.

Cine Gear 2021

Since 1996, Cine Gear Expo has grown to become the premier event for the technology, entertainment, and media industry. Created by industry insiders, Cine Gear Expo features hundreds of exhibits, new product and service introductions, dedicated to the filmmaking industry. Furthermore, Cine Gear hosts 30+ complimentary seminars led by industry leaders, master classes, annual film competitions, awards ceremonies, and special screenings. Unfortunately, due to COVID, Cine Gear 2020 and 2021 have been postponed. Eventually, this year’s event will be held on September 24 and 25. The film competition will be held the day before, and the masterclasses day after. Furthermore, the event was moved from the beloved Paramount Studios to the L. A Conventions Center.

Schedule and programs

Although the full program is not enclosed yet, the topics seem to be quite intriguing. For instance, there is a Gaffer Roundtable, Blackmagic Design’s seminars, Mysteries of Camera Prep seminar, dialogue with ASC cinematographers, a discussion about large format cinematography (by the Digital Cinema Society), and more fascinating conversations. Due to COVID, all Cine Gear 2021’s participants are forced to meet The County of Los Angeles Public Health guidelines. Read those guidelines and restrictions below:

  1. Entry Requirements: All participants must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and provide proof of vaccination or will have had a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of attending.
  2. Proof of vaccination: A physical vaccination card, a picture of it, or a digital record is required as proof of vaccination.
  3. Proof of Negative COVID-19 Test: You will need to get tested no more than 3 days before and present your negative result or documentation.
  4. Test: The test must be a SARS-CoV-2 viral test (nucleic acid amplification test [NAAT] or antigen test) with Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
  5. Masks: All persons attending indoor events are required to bring and wear masks, regardless of vaccination status, when they are indoors except while eating and drinking in designated areas. Attendees must also wear masks outdoors, when they enter indoor areas, such as concourses, or concession stands.
  6. In-location check system: An active check system for proof of verification for vaccination and proof of negative COVID-19 test will be in place at the show entrance.
  7. Support Hand washing: Hand sanitizer stations will be located at entry points inside and outside with signage promoting use. We encourage frequent hand washing.
  8. Important: Please do not attend if you have symptoms of COVID-19 or if you are under isolation or quarantine orders.
