Canon Inc. is Currently Reviewing the EOS R5 C: Sales Are Paused

Canon Inc. says that it’s reviewing the Cinema EOR R5 C, and that is the reason for the halted sales and delays. However, what does it mean “reviewing”? Let’s try guessing that.

Canon pauses sales of EOS R5 C

CanonRumors has received an email from Canon Australia stating that Canon Inc. has asked them to halt sales of the Canon EOS R5C. As stated in the email: “I’d like to reassure you that there are no health and safety issues with the camera however, we want to ensure that the product is of the highest standard from a quality perspective”. Indeed, that is a very strange email. As we reported previously, Canon has already published an apology regarding the challenging supply chains of its main products: EOS R3 and EOS R5 C. As Canon stated: “It may take more than half a year to deliver the EOS R3”. As for the newly announced EOR R5 C, Canon said that it will be shipped ‘One by one’ (Google translated). Read the statement: “Thank you for your continued patronage of Canon products. Currently, we have received orders for each of the following products in excess of expectations, and due to the influence of global parts supply, delivery delays are occurring. We apologize for the inconvenience caused to our customers and business partners”. However, now the reason for the EOS R5 C delay seems to be clearer.

Canon Inc. is currently reviewing the product (EOS R5 C) and we’ll update you once we receive further information. We apologize for any inconvenience.

“Reviewing the EOS R5 C”

We have contacted Canon Australia to elaborate more on that matter. We wanted to know exactly the reason for the halted sales. At first, it seems that the major causes for the delays are related to supply chain issues ad challenges. Nevertheless, that was Canon Australia’s answer: “We have had a communication from Canon Inc. to pause sales of the EOS R5 C. There are no health and safety issues with the camera, however, we want to ensure that the product is of the highest standard from a quality perspective. Canon Inc. is currently reviewing the product and we’ll update you once we receive further information. We apologize for any inconvenience”. Hence, the EOS R5 C is under review by Canon. This minimizes the ‘supply chain issue’ option and indicates that the halted sales are due to some issues with the camera itself, which is under further examination by Canon.

  1. Hi,
Any more news on this? I initially wanted to buy one (put off getting the R5 because the improved cinema features are important to me) but now it seems like the product will be obsolete by the time you can buy one. Will it ever be sold? Has Canon made any more comments?
    Thanks,
    Charles
