Atlas announces the launch of its Sirius Series 1.0x anamorphic cinema lenses. Sirius Series lenses feature a 1.0x squeeze ratio by eliminating the ‘distracting and overused streak flares’ commonly associated with most anamorphic lenses. The lenses incorporate a dedicated Anamorphic Symmetrical System Technology (ASST) ideal for IMAX shooting. All details are below.
Sirius X1 ‘Nanomorphic’ ASST technology
Atlas states that the introduction of the Sirius Series is a significant addition to the Atlas Lens Co. catalog of anamorphic cinema lenses since the debut of the Mercury Series 1.5x full-frame anamorphic in 2022, Orion Series 2x anamorphic lenses in 2017, and the Orion 21mm, and the world’s widest front anamorphic cinema lens in production. “The addition of the Sirius Series to the Atlas lineup of anamorphic lenses will provide more image-makers with new and distinctive 1.0x Anamorphic choices for their cinematic toolkit” Atlas adds and says: “We’ve always thought of anamorphic lenses as so much more than just the way the anamorphic looks. Sure, we all love the stretched-out cinematic look, the horizontal flare, and the uniquely shaped bokeh…but what if we got rid of all that?”. Then, the Nanomorphic (X1 coefficient) was invented, by taking out two elements from the Orions.
This technology called 1.0x Anamorphic Symmetrical System Technology (ASST) offers matching Horizontal and Vertical Angles of View for any given focal length. ASST Helps you deliver the artisanal aspect ratio cinematographers asked for.

Pioneering the 1.0x Anamorphic Coefficient.
In addition to the ease of supporting artisanal aspect ratios defined by cinematographers and directors as they please, the Sirius Series 1.0x anamorphic optical design allows for many of the visual characteristics image-makers love about traditional spherical lenses (round bokeh, reduced distortion, shallow depth of field) while retaining the size and weight similar to Orion Series anamorphic lenses. This results in an ideal balance of size, weight, optical performance, and professional usability across a variety of productions.
Vintage look – Nanomorphic
According to Atlas, the Sirius Series features an exceptional optical performance with the character, color, and clarity of an anamorphic lens while embracing the personality of vintage spherical lenses: Pleasant distortion, beautiful round bokeh, and dynamic spherical aberration with the added benefits of zero mumping, excellent close-focus, without any of the distracting streak flares.

Is this an April Fools post?
You got me. In my defense I was still half asleep while reading email, and was a good way into this article before my brain finally kicked in and I was like, “Wait. What?” Well played, good sir. Well played. LOL!
HAH! Same here, was about to say to myself „which stupido does….“ and it kicked. I really loughed, though I must admit it is a nerd laugh. I couldn‘t explain that to my wife.-)
Played well, Yossi!-)
Pardon, Yossy!
Ha Ha. It’s Atlas’ idea. 😂
