The Matrix 4, which is directed by Lana Wachowski, is an upcoming American science fiction action film and the fourth installment in The Matrix franchise. A rare behind the scene footage revealed RED cameras onset (and not Sony Venice as mentioned on IMDB).

IMDB is not showing the correct data

According to the current IMDB tech spec, the camera being used to film The Matrix 4 is Sony CineAlta Venice with Sony’s X-OCN ST codec (check out the screenshot below).

However, when examining the BTS (Behind the Scene) footage, we clearly can see some REDs, maybe Rangers cameras onset paired with Panavision lenses. Check out the screenshots below. The BTS video is underneath.

Shot on Komodo?

As stated by Jarred Land, RED Digital Cinema president, some Komodos are being used to shoot the film. Have a look at the picture below that shows Jarred together with The Matrix director Lana Wachowski which holds the custom made Komodo in her hands.

Wrapping up

Under the code name “Project Ice Cream,” The Matrix 4 began production in San Francisco on February 4, 2020. Filming is also set to take place at Babelsberg Studio in Germany, and in Chicago. Filming in San Francisco irritated citizens and city workers after the damage was inflicted on buildings and street lights. Check out the leaked BTS footage below. For the cameras being used, we’ll keep you posted when IMDB tech spec is corrected.
