Shot on Komodo

While the development phase of this camera is still going on by implementing features and sharpening performances and improvements, the specs are almost locked. Indeed, we know a lot about this “Badass Little RED” including the accurate dimensions, interface, and more basic features. However, in order to complete this mysteries puzzle regarding one of the most fascinating (and intriguing) pieces of gear yet to be announced, we need to see some stuff that has been shot on it. So there you go. The Red Komodo 6K filmed Brad Pitt in the opening scene for one of the most famous high-rating shows of American TV, which is SNL (Saturday Night Live). Surprisingly (or not), this opening scene has been shot by RED Digital Cinema president, Jarred Land, using the Sigma 50-100mm cine zoom.

Check it out below:

Jarred also elaborated regarding the technique he used to shoot that: “Komodo with Sigma 50-100mm cinema zoom shot at a stupidly deep stop to make it look more “broadcast”. SkyPanels everywhere for ample glass reflections. The worst dodgy green screen in the world but it’s all I had. Rhode shotgun microphone piped right into the camera and just prayed it worked as I couldn’t wear headphones. Flanders OLED monitor. Razor studio laptop which is insanely fast with Komodo 6k R3Ds.”
