Logic Pro X 10.5
Apple today unveiled a major update to Logic Pro X with a professional version of Live Loops, a completely redesigned sampling workflow, and new beat-making tools. According to Apple, this is the “biggest update to Logic since the launch of Logic Pro X”. Let’s overview the Logic Pro X 10.5 highlights.
Live Loops: For spontaneous composition
Live Loops is a dynamic way to create and arrange music in real-time. This feature allows you to add loops, samples, or your recorded performances into a grid of cells. Trigger different cells to play with your ideas without worrying about a timeline or arrangement. Once you find combinations that work well together you can create song sections, then move everything into the Tracks area to continue production and finish your song.
Step Sequencer
Step Sequencer is inspired by classic drum machines and synthesizers. Using the Step Sequence editor, quickly build drum beats, bass lines, and melodic parts — and even automate your favorite plug-ins. Add sophisticated variations to your pattern with a wide range of creative playback behaviors. Use Note Repeat to create rolling steps, Chance to randomize step playback, and Tie Steps Together to create longer notes.
Sampler
Sampler represents the next generation of the popular industry-standard EXS24 plug-in with an all-new modern design and expanded sound-shaping controls while maintaining full backward compatibility. Producers can use Sampler to create and edit sophisticated multi-sampled instruments, using elegant drag-and-drop workflows that automate complex production tasks.
More loops and patches
Logic Pro X 10.5 includes over 2,500 new loops in a variety of instruments and genres covering modern and classic hip-hop, electro house, reggaeton, future bass, techno, and transition effects. Furthermore, 17 new Live Loops starter grids are covering a range of electronic and hip-hop genres, more than 70 new Drum Machine Designer kits, and over 1,500 new patches.
Final insights
