For more than 25 years, the Panavision New Filmmaker Program (NFP) has empowered emerging filmmakers through outreach, access, and support. This year, Panavision announces that post-production grants have been added through Panavision’s post-production division Light Iron. Both the equipment grants and post grants are open for submissions on an ongoing basis. Here’s how to apply.
Panavision New Filmmaker Program (NFP)
As stated by Panavision: “Panavision is committed to providing outreach, access, and support to the community of aspiring filmmakers. Whether you’ve previously worked with Panavision or not, our goal is to provide you with the information and tools to help realize your project and your potential”. Furthermore, the program offers educational seminars, tours, and product demos for both student and non-student groups (In case you’re interested in discussing an educational event for your group, email Panavision at nfp@panavision.com).
Anamorphic lenses are not available for NFP projects.

Post-production grants added
Towards that end, for over 25 years, Panavision has offered the New Filmmaker Program Equipment Grant, which provides the use of Panavision film or digital camera packages to aspiring filmmakers of all kinds at little to no cost. This year, Panavision adds post-production grants as well. “We had the honor of supporting hundreds of films through this program, and through our post-production company Light Iron, we’re now also offering the NFP post-production grant” Panavision states.

Final thoughts
Panavision is a great company to work with. Furthermore, any grants for filmmakers are more than welcome and blessed in our industry. Just one thing to consider, regarding the Camera Equipment Grants. According to Panavision, its acclaimed anamorphic lenses are not available for NFP projects, nor its large format cameras. If so, what are the cameras and lenses included, as the only relevant Panavision camera is the DXL2 which is a large format sensor (Monstro VV)? Is there a possibility that Panavision will provide its film cameras to selected filmmakers? Thus, before applying, make sure to email Panavision to nfp@panavision.com to get your questions covered and answered.
