A leaked review demonstrates that the forthcoming Panasonic LUMIX GH6 will be able to record the Apple ProRes codec (not ProRes RAW) internally. Moreover, the camera is equipped with a cooling dissipation system to allow continuous video recording.
Panasonic LUMIX GH6: Internal ProRes recording
A Japanese camera website has leaked a full review of the forthcoming Panasonic LUMIX GH6. The review was published on YouTube, however, the publisher has taken it off. Nevertheless, users downloaded it and translated the highlights of the review. One of the most important features regarding filmmaking is the internal ProRes recording option on the GH6. Note that this is not ProRes RAW, but according to the leaked specs, the GH6 will be capable of shooting 5.7K 30p Apple ProRes 422 HQ (1.9Gbps).
Heat dissipation system for continuous video recording
Furthermore, the review shows that the LUMIX GH6 is armed with a heat dissipation apparatus very similar to the Canon EOS R5 C. That means shooters will be able to record uninterrupted videos utilizing high-resolution modes. BTW, one interesting spec suggests that the camera offers “Rolling shutter suppression”. The name pretty much speaks for itself though.
Maximizing M4/3
The GH6 is an M4/3 camera. According to the confirmed specs, it has a new Micro Four Thirds sensor, updated Venus Engine Image Processor, 5.7K 60p Video, 10-Bit Sampling, DCI 4K 10-Bit 4:2:2, and unlimited recording. In terms of specs, the GH6 will most probably dominate the M4/3 arena. However, we need to ask ourselves if there’s room for that size of sensor in the era of large-format cinematography (and videography). The Panasonic GH6 will launch on February 21 at 8 pm EST. Meanwhile, have a look at the translated leaked review below:

Of course there is room. Many of us shoot with the GH5. I would never buy another Sony after the disaster of one their previous cameras I’ve owned. The LUMIX is a proven platform and I intend to stay.
Prores 422 in 2022, on a hybrid camera?? What a waste of time and resources.
Indeed. Would have been better if they did AV1.
