Nikon to expand the lens lineup by more than 50

According to Nikon’s Medium-Term Management Plan announced by Toshikazu Umatate, Representative Director and President, the company is going to release more products focused on the Z-lineup to meet the expectations of professionals and hobbyists. As from our angle, the most important message is the plan to release more than 50 mirrorless lenses by 2025. As stated by the report: “Concentrate management resources in high value-added products and mirrorless cameras (Meet expectations of professionals and hobbyists and raise ASP 20%). Bolster the Z mount system by expanding the lens lineup: 50+ lenses and a 2+ lens attach rate (Lens sales units ÷ Camera sales units). Furthermore, appeal to video creators by strengthening video functions, and strengthen remote operation and automatic image capture features to meet professional needs”.

Further establishment of the Z-system

Nikon emphasizes its objective regarding the Imaging Device division, and that is to market-scale digital cameras- interchangeable lens type (10,000 units). For pros/hobbyists Nikon says it will deploy advanced features from the Z9 across the lineup. That’s a very interesting statement, as there are many interpretations of that one. Does it mean that other lower-end Z models will incorporate ProRes RAW internally? Something to think about.

No world on DSLR

Like Canon’s Corporate Strategy Conference, this deck was dedicated to the mirrorless system inside Nikon’s Imaging Product division. There’s no one word regarding DSLRs. It’s very similar to the Canon strategy besides the number of the new lenses (Canon promised ‘only’ 32 lenses till 2025).
