The first music video made by Sora has been released. And it looks ugly. This is not an art, but a piece of bizarre Sh**. And the funny part is that it took 6 weeks to ‘create’ it.
Using Sora for curiosity to show something to your mother is ok. However, using it for commercial use is wrong, unprofessional, and time-consuming and the results can be hideous (as viewers commented). So don’t be a thief, be an artist, Forget Sora. Get your real camera and shoot great things.
The first music video prompted by Sora
I wanted to say “First music video created by Sora”, but using the word ‘Create’ in that context is to be unfair to the numerous real artists that their footage were trained for this video. In my opinion, a creator who will use Sora for commercial videos is not an artist, but a thief. If you want to be a thief, go ahead and use Sora. That’s fine! Anyway, the first music video made by Sora has been published. In my opinion, it looks ugly and bizarre. Some commenters concluded that in a very efficient way, stating that “Sora was definitely trained on a dataset of nightmares”, as it looks like a nightmare. Many shots of cars and supermarkets, AI-generated trash, and objects with strange to zero expressions on their faces. Low resolution (because of the very long rendering times), creepy and disturbing. Explore below a few screenshots:
This video took 6 weeks to generate
The Sora user told NFS that it took 6 weeks to generate the video: “I generated almost 700 clips to make this video, and I think I used about 55 or 56 of them. Generations with Sora can take anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour depending on how much you’re using it, how long your clips are, and how big of a resolution. I worked on it for I guess about six weeks or something”. Indeed, it takes a ton of time and a ton of editing work just to assemble these someone else’s footage. You’d better take your camera and start shooting instead. It may take you much less time, and you will be doing real art. Imagine that you write a prompt, and wait an hour for a one-minute clip that you cannot anticipate the result. It’s a waste of time, especially for commercial use. Don’t be a thief, be an artist
Using Sora for curiosity to show something to your mother is ok. However, using it for commercial use is wrong, unprofessional, and time-consuming and the results can be hideous (as viewers commented). Unfortunately, Sora is a hot trend. So hot that a respected film festival (I will not mention its name) has invented a new category called ‘Sora Shorts’. What kind of stupid idea is that? So don’t be a thief, be an artist, Forget Sora. Get your real camera and shoot great things.
I think this is an example of how to use this technology well
I do not understand the whole fuss about “being thief”… If so, we all, at least those of us who create art, should be called thieves… Writers learn how to write by readings a lot of books, musicians by listening to ton of music, painters… and so on. NO ONE is asking for permission for using other arts to learn during the process …, books can come from libraries, music from YT … and so on. Should we close the schools where kids learning by watching the art, because they are thieves? But I agree with one, yes, every single art created with AI should be in some way signed that was created that way, but calling a person who use AI as a tool a thief is ridiculous. I strongly believe there is room for every form of creation, and human art will defend itself with no problem at all. How many film makers, musicians, writers is out there? Millions? Hundred millions? How many are really famous? Thousands? It always was like that. AI is just a tool to help another people wona be artis, but will it make them famous as well? I very doubt, as soon as the others will found out that the art was created with AI – I strongly believe – people will will take indifferent approach, and in my opinion it will even make real artists more appreciated. I understand one doesn’t like the this video which is article about, it is creepy and hard to watch. One could criticise every second of this “music video” from the art perspective, form perspective or any other perspective included taste. I understand to name this video in every possible negative, abrasive or even rude way. But again: to call someone thief because used AI as a tool… Ridiculous… The one who does it, should call themselves a thief, unless never been in school, and had no contact with any other art. This is just mu opinion, of course.
