As stated by Stability AI: “The Oscar-winning filmmaker James Cameron has joined the Stability AI Board of Directors. It was only a year ago when AI was thought to be a dirty word during the double strikes that shut down the business when Cameron cited his 1984 sci-fi classic The Terminator — about artificial intelligence that becomes sentient and wreaks havoc on mankind — and said, ‘I warned you guys in 1984, and you didn’t listen’. Aside from his groundbreaking filmmaking prowess, 3-D, and VFX pioneering, Cameron is also a technology innovator, so it is not surprising he would be part of the next wave of AI, and harnessing the technology. The announcement was made by Stability AI CEO, Stability AI CEO, Prem Akkaraju”.

So what’s next?

Most probably, Cameron will help to further develop Stable Video Diffusion which is designed to serve a wide range of video applications in fields such as media, entertainment, education, and marketing. “It empowers individuals to transform text and image inputs into vivid scenes and elevates concepts into live-action, cinematic creations. Stable Video Diffusion is released in the form of two image-to-video models, capable of generating 14 and 25 frames at customizable frame rates between 3 and 30 frames per second” the company says. Regarding Cameron, Stability AI emphasizes: “It is great news, now let’s focus on making AI tools that amplify human creativity instead of replacing it!”. We’ll see about that.

Hilarious. AI, by its very nature, cannot and will not ever “amplify human creativity.” It will only serve to further destroy such, reduce/eliminate true technical experts and masters of *real* art, and across the board trash the arts altogether (not just film). It’s not a paintbrush. It’s not a canvas. It’s not tangible. It requires no authentic skill or ability. It’s not real. It’s garbage, just like basically everything else having to do with computers.
