Apple has introduced a new beast: The new generation of MacBook Pro, that features up to 6-core processors and 32GB memory, true tone display and t2 chip, to make pro users happy. Find out more below.

Macbook Pro: 6-Core Processors and 32GB of Memory

MBP (MacBook Pro) is known as the gold standard when dealing with heavy editing and post production tasks.. Most of the productions use MBP for backups, implementing LUTs, rough editing and grading purposes.

I personally (like many others) own the most upgraded older generation MBP to fulfill my needs in term of color grading, sound design, music composition and professional editing. Sometimes it seems that even the most upgraded MBP is broken under the pressure, which made pros frustrated as the need for more high performance based machine rises.

Apple (finally) has been listened.

As stated in the press release:

The latest generation MacBook Pro is the fastest and most powerful notebook we’ve ever made….8th-generation 6 core processors, 32GB, 4TB and super fast SSD storage….and a third-generation quieter keyboard packed into thin and light aluminum design with all-day battery life

Apple claims that the new MBP can work up to 70 percent faster than previous generation.

“True Tone” display optimized for HDR

Apple claims that the display features True Tone technology, 500 nits of brightness and thus grant users more natural viewing experience that might be useful when dealing with HDR (High Dynamic Range) acquisition and delivery.

Take a look at the benchmark below in regard to DaVinci Resolve 15:

Apple claims that the new MBP will allow to edit multicam projects in Final Cut Pro X with up to nine streams of full-resolution 4K video on the 15-inch MacBook Pro:

Final thoughts

So there you have it – a new MBP!

Now we just need to sit tight and see if the new MBP will deliver the expectations in the 8K RAW world. I say that it will! Apple’s MBP are reliable and solid products. In my opinion there will be a descent synchronization with FCPX to speed up editing and improving high resolution workflow.
