Kinefinity at NAB 2019: A lot of New Goodies: Higher FPS, First EVF and a 1000 nits 7″ Monitor

Kinefinity, the company behind more affordable (but not less professional) cinema camera has announced some great stuff here at NAB 2019: TERRA 4K Higher FPS firmware update, Full-HD OLED Viewfinder, and High-bright 7″ Monitor. Explore below.

Kinefinity is sprinting its way into the pro cinema market, armed with an absolute and extra affordable and beautiful large sensor cinema cameras, now offering even more accessories which you can find and play with at their booth at the NAB Show.

New Firmware for TERRA 4K: 4K 160 fps and 2K 320fps

The latest firmware update for the TERRA 4K includes some significant performance improvements: From 4K 100fps to 4K 160fps, and from 2K 220fps to 2K 320fps. Those FPS can be recorded as ProRes and CDNG to SSD. This firmware update will be available in May.

KineEVF: The first viewfinder made by Kinefinity

KineEVF Full-HD OLED Viewfinder is the first viewfinder made by Kinefinity. The KineEVF features built-in diopter and Micro-OLED display. Kinefinity claims for zero image delay and minimum power consumption, as stated by Kinefinity: ”KineEVF Full-HD OLED Viewfinder is the first field viewfinder made by Kinefinity. Based on excellent optical design with built-in diopter and full-HD Micro-OLED screen, it features 1080p, 16M colors, to get accurate details and very sharp images”. The KineEVF is attached to the camera by one Kine video cord.

KineEVF Full-HD OLED Viewfinder is the first field viewfinder made by Kinefinity. Based on excellent optical design with built-in diopter and full-HD Micro-OLED screen, it features 1080p, 16M colors, to get accurate details and very sharp images

Based on a military spec

According to Kinefinity, the KineEVF has built-in the diopter of -6D to +2D based on military spec (from 600 degrees of myopia to 200 degrees of hyperopia).  It also features a proximity sensor.

Price and availability

The cost of the KineEVF is $1,500. The price for the KineEVF pack (includes, Kine Video Cord (25cm) and Movcam new EVF bracket) is $1,700.

Kine LPL Mounting Adapter

This newly designed LPL Mounting Adapter fits MAVO LF, MAVO and TERRA 4K with KineMOUNT, and supports most LPL large format lenses on MAVO LF, like Signature Prime lenses of ARRI. There is no info regarding price nor availability.

KineMON-7H: High-bright 7″ Monitor (1000 nits)

KineMON-7H is the high-bright 7″ monitor made by Kinefinity dedicated to MAVO/TERRA. A 1080p IPS LCD screen with AR coating and Anti-fingerprint coating. The brightness is up to 1000nits which allows daylight visibility. Regarding screen-spec, the monitor has 16M colors (RGB 24-bit depth), 1920×1200 physical resolution (325ppi), 1000:1 contrast ratio, full viewing angle and LED back-illumination. Furthermore, the KineMON-7H is made out of rugged milled aluminum for better heat dissipation.

Price

The cost of the KineMON-7H alone is $700. There is an option to purchase the complete package which includes the KineMON-7H, Kine Video Cord(35cm), 5″ Strong Arm with damping and KineMON 7″ Sun-hood for $850.

To sum it up

These are some good stuff. Glad to see that Kinefinity is making progress in the cinema pro market. Check and try those accessories at Kinefinity booth. Also, according to Kinefinity, there are MAVO LF cinema cameras with anamorphic in the Atlas’s booth, which is a pretty exciting combination. Enjoy your NAB.
