Timeline as an educating reference
As an editor, I can tell that looking at a timeline’s screenshot of a famous feature film is truly an educating experience, especially if this film is blockbuster, like Marvel’s projects.
The editor has the privilege to hold the story and make it more precise by designing every shot and stitch it to the right place in the story (=timeline).
Infinity War’s editor is Jeffrey Ford, ACE which is the editor of many of Marvel’s movies, as well as the new Avengers: Endgame.
To dive a bit into editor’s mind when he has to deal and overcome challengable multi-layers sequences, you can watch the short video below trying to explain and demonstrate the editor’s dilemma about the process of stitching the story according to the director’s mind.
In the video, Jeff explains the process of editing a complex action sequence taken from the first Avengers movie. Jeff says that the editor has a crucial part of the storytelling, trying to move and organize stuff to cover production’s inaccuracies.
