Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro 12K Got Upgraded With More HFR and Stills Options

Blackmagic Design announced the Blackmagic Camera Setup 7.0 which contains useful URSA Mini Pro 12K upgrades focusing on more HFR (High Frame Rates) options and stills capture support. Check out the full list below.

Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro 12K

The URSA Mini Pro 12K was announced in July as a clap of thunder on a sunny day. The camera was defined by Blackmagic as a totally new “digital film camera” with an advanced 12,288 x 6,480 12K Super 35 image sensor, 14 stops of dynamic range, and high frame rate shooting at up to 60 frames per second in 12K at 80 megapixels per frame, 110 fps in 8K and up to 220 fps in 4K Super 16. Frame rates have been increased up to 75 fps for 12K 2.4:1, 120 fps for 8K and 4K DCI, 16:9 and 6:5 Anamorphic, 160 fps for 8K 2.4:1 and 4K 2.4:1, and 240 fps for 4K Super 16.

Today, Blackmagic announced the Blackmagic Camera Setup 7.0 for the URSA Mini Pro 12K. This update leverages the HFR capabilities of the camera by adding more options and elevating the frame rates a bit for all resolutions. As stated by Blackmagic: “This update adds support for Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro 12K and new features including increased frame rates, Blackmagic RAW stills capture, and broadcast lens connector support. Frame rates have been increased up to 75 fps for 12K 2.4:1, 120 fps for 8K and 4K DCI, 16:9 and 6:5 Anamorphic, 160 fps for 8K 2.4:1 and 4K 2.4:1, and 240 fps for 4K Super 16”.

New HFR features

  1. Increase 12K 2.4:1 maximum frame rate to 75 fps.
  2. Increase 8K DCI, 16:9, and 6:5 Anamorphic to 120 fps.
  3. Increase 4K DCI, 16:9, and 6:5 Anamorphic to 120 fps.
  4. Increase 8K 2.4:1 and 4K 2.4:1 to 160 fps.
  5. Increase 4K Super 16 to 240 fps.

New Blackmagic URSA Viewfinder features

  1. Adds support for new 12K LUT’s.
  2. Adds support for new 12K exposure metering.

Furthermore, the update allows the privilege of capturing 12K stills as a single BRAW frame (URSA Mini Pro 4.6K models will record stills as a single uncompressed DNG frame).

New Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro Manual

The company has also released today an update to its Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro Manual that includes the newly announced 12K camera as well. This manual is a 300 pages document that is translated into 11 languages and contains all the URSA features including the new 12K camera. Click this link to download the manual.
