Today, Blackmagic Design introduced DaVinci Resolve 17.2 Update which adds faster startup time, improved decode performance for 8K H.265 clips on Apple Silicon systems, and more features focusing on sound design (Fairlight).

DaVinci Resolve 17.2: A lot of audio improvements

This software update 17.2 adds improved startup performance and changes the default save setting to live save, as well as adding support for applying and managing crossfades in the Fairlight timeline and for controlling track processing order in the Fairlight mixer. This update also adds support for Fusion template bundles along with the ability to decode AV1 clips on Windows machines and support to decode MKV clips across all platforms. DaVinci Resolve 17.2 also includes support for renaming individual timeline clips and setting handles when performing audio-only renders. 

Fairlight

Audio improvements include the ability to apply and manage crossfades directly in the Fairlight timeline, enabling you to add flexible curves and make easy adjustments to crossfade lengths across multiple clips and tracks. You also get greater control of track processing in the Fairlight mixer, giving you the ability to choose the order you would like any EQ, dynamics and effects changes to be applied. The ability to rename individual timeline clips on the cut, edit or Fairlight pages allows you to cut up a long clip on the timeline and rename the smaller clips to help easily identify their content.

Fusion

Regarding Fusion, there is now support for template bundles, meaning you can share a group of effects and compositions in one simple file. When the file is opened, the effects will be automatically added to your Fusion template library. This update also adds support for decoding AV1 clips on Windows computers and MKV clips across all platforms.
