GoPro has announced the HERO10 Black. Why? Because it had to. Every year on the clock a new GoPro is introduced. There are new features here and there. Some of them are minor, and some of them can be essential (…depends on you…). However, do you really need to upgrade? Let’s find the answer to that.
There’s nothing like a good GoPro
I remember when purchased the GoPro HERO1 back in 2010. It was a marvel. Unfortunately, the ocean took my GoPro into the deep, when shooting surfers. Then I went straight to buy another one (HERO2) which was much more advanced than the HERO1, and the image quality (still and video) was much better. From then, a lot of water flowed down the river (or the ocean), and GoPro has become a synonym to the adrenalin shots, and I’m talking about footage of course. Yesterday, GoPro has announced the new HERO10, which includes some changes compared to the previous version. The changes are minor, or major depends on whom and for what purposes.
GoPro HERO10 Black: “Speed with Ease”
The slogan of the newest GoPro is “Speed with Ease”. Indeed, speed is the main factor. The camera is armed with the same sensor as implemented in the HERO9, but with a newly developed GP2 chip that makes things and processes a bit smoother. For instance, the refreshing rates between pictures, modes, and video recording, are significantly reduced. Also, you are getting more FPS (Frame Per Second) when shooting 5K and 4K. The changes in 4K shooting now allow decent slow-motion shots (up to 120FPS), which is nice. Also, the HyperSmooth technology has been improved a bit, but it crops a bit more as well.
HERO10 Black vs. HERO9 Black
Explore the table below which summarizes the main differences between the new model and the previous one. Note the image quality stays the same (still and video). So we made a very simplified comparison that shows only the main advantages of the HERO10 Black over the HERO9 Black. Those advantages could be minor or major, depends on what you’re looking for. For instance, if shooting 4K slow motion is your bread and butter, then go with the HERO10. But this is basically it. Rather than the 4K 120FPS, there’s not much of a difference. All other goodies constitute a neat privilege but not sure if it worths the upgrade. Check out the comparison, and let’s know your thoughts on the differences between these two action cameras. Should you upgrade to HERO10 Black?
