Black Panther: Wakanda Forever teaser trailer
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is an upcoming American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Black Panther. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, it is intended to be the sequel to Black Panther (2018) and the 30th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film is being directed by Ryan Coogler. Autumn Durald Arkapaw, ASC serves as the cinematographer, after doing so on Marvel Studios’ Disney+ series Loki, replacing the first film’s cinematographer Rachel Morrison, ASC. In the film, the leaders of the kingdom of Wakanda fight to protect their nation in the wake of King T’Challa’s death. A few days ago, the teaser trailer has been released by Marvel Entertainment. Audiences have praised the teaser for its uniqueness and intensity. Watch it below:
The IMAX trailer
A few days after the ‘regular’ teaser trailer was released, IMAX released the IMAX version of the teaser. It’s pretty intriguing to watch those two trailers side by side. In the IMAX version, you can notice the expanded aspect ratio. However, those extended portions are tiny with a duration of only seconds. 99% of the trailer is a conventional 2.39:1 ratio. The cinematographer behind Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is Autumn Durald Arkapaw, ASC. In July 2022, Arkapaw was accepted to the ASC. Her credits include Palo Alto and Mainstream features, the documentary Beastie Boys Story, and the series Loki, which was nominated for “Outstanding Cinematography for a Single-Camera Series”. BTW, Arkapaw’s husband is Emmy-winning Australian cinematographer Adam Arkapaw, ACS — who earned the 2016 ASC Spotlight Award for his work in the feature Macbeth (2015).
Arkapaw said once: ”Being a mother has made me an even better leader, multitasker & creative individual. It’s funny how the perception in our business is that being a mother makes it harder to fill the role; but in actuality, motherhood edifies it and makes you more capable”
