DZOFILM Vespid Retro Cine

DZOFILM describes the Vespid Retro Cine in a very poetic way: “Memories is a magical thing. It never dies but is just stored in the deep of one’s mind. The freeze frame with an amber hue takes you back to the golden age of yearning, making images become an extension of memories and the continuation of dreams. DZOFILM now bring their newest Vespid Retro Cine lenses, which come out under the eagerness and need of professional filmmakers. Classic is timeless and permanent. The golden coating on Vespid Retro adds a charming amber hue to the stories in the memories”. Indeed, it seems that DZOFILM aimed to create something very special here. Also, the tech specs sound like a poem.

A combination of retro and modern

Furthermore, DZOFILM states that: “Adhere to the design of Vespid lenses, gentle sharpness captures most details on the image. Amber flares, smooth transition and gorgeous bokeh increase the retro feel”. Also, “The amber coating adds a warm soft tint on the cold bluish image that renders skin tones beautifully. Vintage colors and delicate nuances are suitable for the presentation of dreamlike surreal moments” the company adds.

Vintage appearance and modern composition

DZOFILM says that the silver design was inspired by the industrial design of the 1970s and Mondrian’s paintings. “The silver appearance is subtly embellished with red and blue inks for a retro yet vibrant look. Rounded elements and rectangular lettering present modernity with geometric balance” it states.

Structure and mounting: “Lightweight and durable strength”

Made of aluminum alloy, the silver lens housing provides strong protection to lenses. The retro version inherits the lightweight and compact size of Vespid with less than 1000g. Moreover,  DZOFILM claims that the Vespid Retro has reliable mechanical performance, with uniform and consistent position of the focus ring and iris ring, with no adjustment needed when changing focal lengths. DZOFILM  promises that focusing is precise and smooth with 270- degree rotation. Furthermore, the interchangeable mounting design is compatible with a variety of cinema cameras, so it’s important to mention that all lenses come with a user-interchangeable PL/EF mount and cover full-frame sensors.
