DZOFILM has launched another Pictor Cine-Zoom for Super 35 cameras. The new Pictor 14-30mm T2.8 wide-angle joins the other two Pictors (20-55mm and 50-125mm) as an affordable cine zoom that is dedicated to wide-angle shots. The new lens comes in two versions: Black ($2890 USD) and White ($3,100). All details are below.

DZOFILM Pictor 14-30mm T2.8

The Pictor 14-30mm T2.8 Super35 Parfocal Zoom Lens from DZOFilm features a relatively fast maximum aperture of T2.8 with an aperture range of T2.8 to T22, and it adds an extreme wide-angle zoom to the Pictor line of lenses. As you would expect from a cinema-style zoom, the lens is parfocal (as claimed by DZOFilm), meaning it holds focus throughout the zoom range. The internal focus design with floating elements virtually eliminates focus breathing. It covers a Super35 image circle, comes standard with an interchangeable PL mount, and includes an EF mount.

Wide-angle affordable Cine-Zoom

With a minimum focal length of 14mm, Pictor 14-30mm meets the demands of wide shots. According to DZOFIlm, the Pictor 14-30 retains the image style and quality of the Pictor series bringing complete consistency to the image. DZOFilm describes the Pictor 14-30mm imagery as: “cinematic with gentle sharpness and vivid look — neither overly sharp nor blurred”. The lens owns a consistent T2.8 large aperture with 16 iris blades, and no matter close-up or wide shot, the focus remains and the breathing is negligible. The lens weighs no more than 1.9kg, similar lightweight to Pictor 20-55 and 50-125, it can be fitted with gimbals and other types of equipment. Furthermore, the lens has an Interchangeable mont (PL-EF).

For instance, check out this indie project that was shot on the Pictor 20-55m paired with the RED Komodo. The result is solid. As explained, you can buy the whole set for $8,200 which will get you covered by cine zooms with focal lengths between 14mm-125mm.
