The Sony Rialto Camera Extension System enables you to remove the sensor block and extend it up to 12 meters away from the camera body with no loss of image quality. This allows you to acquire images remotely with the same image quality and functionality the VENICE is known for. The apparatus was utilized numerous times and variations —From conventional shooting scenarios like using a stabilizer, shooting from a helicopter, or fitting it into a tight space, to specialized rigging (Top Gun: Maverick and Avatar sequels). The ability to detach the sensor from the heavy body can become very handy in many shooting situations. Thus, Sony Cine has released a neat video showing how to assemble a more compact form of the VENICE, and make a Rialto Backpack System.

For the backpack system, most probably they used the ORCA Rigalto with Easyrig Minimax, which allows you to carry the Sony VENICE camera on your back, so you can easily use the tethered Rialto extension handheld. The design consists of a large mounting plate secured to adjustable padded backpack straps. Check out this demonstration featuring Katie Eleneke from Sony’s Digital Media Production Center:

  1. I use the 16×9 Easyrig cheese plate to mount a dovetail on the back of my Easyrig that lives on it. 16×9 rocks and had great customer service as I initially wanted this when it was sold out but they helped me get one in time for my project,
