According to Bloomberg, Zombieland will dominate, as Apple puts all its chips on its spatial computer in order to replace the Mac and iPad. Nevertheless, Apple will need to reduce prices and solve the claimed health issues of its Vision Pro.

Apple refers to as spatial computing as the new future trend. But its greatest potential may be replacing the Mac and iPad, rather than becoming an entirely new revenue source.

AVP instead of Mac and iPad

As stated by Bloomberg: “Though the Vision Pro is now on store shelves, it’s clearly not a mainstream hit. Apple’s business remains heavily reliant on the iPhone, which accounts for more than half of its revenue. And sales in that market have stagnated. That’s made it all the more important for the company to find a major new product category. Apple has been in this situation before. Don’t forget that the iMac got the company back on track in the late 1990s. The iPod vaulted it into consumer electronics during the early 2000s. Then there was the iPhone, which turned Apple into the juggernaut it is today — with the iPad giving it an even bigger foothold in many of our lives”. Furthermore, “The Vision Pro headset ushered Apple into the mixed-reality category” says Bloomberg and adds that the company refers to as spatial computing as the new future trend. But its greatest potential may be replacing the Mac and iPad, rather than becoming an entirely new revenue source. And for the device to make any meaningful headway, the company will have to develop a cheaper model and ideally bring it to market within the next two years.

Closing thoughts

It seems that Apple put all its chips in the upcoming spatial computing trend, and sees the Vision Pro as the flagship device to lead this trend. However, it doesn’t mean that Apple is going to ditch its other products. In contrary. For instance: “Apple engineers are exploring the prospect of foldable iPads. Now, work on this initiative is in its early stages and the company has yet to figure out a way to create foldable screens without the crease seen on similar devices from Samsung Electronics Co. and others” mentions Bloomberg. As for the AVP, there’s a long way to go. Apple will have to reduce prices and make the product more…. healthy.
