It supports Wide DR Gamma, Canon Log, and Canon Log 3. Furthermore, the camera can record Canon’s Cinema RAW Light internally via its single CFast card slot. Is there a C200 Mark II on the horizon?

There are many reasons for this price drop. First, with the launch of the C70, the C200 was pretty much cannibalized, since the C70 produces much better imagery with a significantly higher dynamic range when Super 35mm is desired. Second, this can be an indication for preparing the ground for a new Cinema EOS C200 Mark II. Nonetheless, this is a very tempting price for a very capable camera. We’d say that the C200 can be interpreted as an entry-level cinema camera that junior filmmakers can buy without breaking the bank. Would you buy the C200 at that price?

  1. for me its much more complete cine camera then c70 just because of the integrated EVF and the better form factor.
EF mount is still king (you havent mentioned the mount btw).

    • I hate to say it, but if they came out with a C200 ii, it would probably have worse specs than the C70. Think about it; C70 is essentially a single operator version of the c300 III. Same sensor, same dynamic range, same codecs. The only difference is the I/O, mount, and the media type. And all of those are for a production set workflow. They wouldn’t have a real place for this camera 🤷🏾‍♂️

  2. I dropped $2500 on the C200B and love it! 4:4:4 10-bit and 12-bit RAW internal recording, onboard XLRs, scratch mic, and 3.5mm input, ND filters, and surprisingly light weight. It turns out to be the perfect camera for me at this time for the price, because I simply wanted a dedicated video camera that I can use all my EF glass with and get an incredible picture. If they drop the price even further, I will probably pick up a 2nd one. 🙂
