The not-yet-announced lens was spotted in the Atlas Lens Instagram and FB Stories. Atlas Lens Co. has uploaded a picture of a production model of the Orion 2X Anamorphic 25mm T2, which was announced back at NAB 2019.

The Orion 25mm prototype was presented at NAB 2019. Atlas stated that It was a hard mission to develop a really good wide-angle anamorphic lens. The 25mm is a 12.5mm horizontal field of view with a 2X anamorphic squeeze ratio. Although this is a wide-angle lens, Atlas emphasized that it’s characterized by its low distortion. Since then, Atlas hasn’t mentioned much about the lens, so a lot of us assumed that Atlas has ditched the project due to its complexity. Indeed, it’s hard to develop a wide angel 2X anamorphic lens that will produce professional results. Today, out of the blue, Atlas uploaded Instagram and FB stories showing a product model of the Orion 2X Anamorphic 25mm T2. Take a look at the screenshot.

Also, the story is available for 24 hours, so go ahead and send them questions about the lens before the stories expired:

Super 35 covering

No info if the Atlas LF Extender will be relevant to the 25mm, so not sure if the lens covers full-frame sensors, as this lens was designed for Super 35 sensors.

Price and availability

There’s no info about that yet. The 32mm is the more expensive lens in the series ($1,000 more compared to other Orions), thus the 25mm would probably cost $10,000 or even more. We’ll update the article as more information emerged.
