Musashi Takumi

Takumi means artisan. According to the Japanese company, Musashi, the lenses are designed and crafted by artisans in Musashi-Opt’s own factory. Musashi specialists in optics which is not only focused on cinema. The company develops and manufactures medical lenses, industrial lenses, and surveillance camera lenses. The first two cinema zooms announced are Takumi 23.9 – 195mm T2.9 PL Cinema Zoom (covers Super 35 sensor), and the Takumi 40.6–332mm T4.8 Full Frame Cine Zoom (covers large sensors). A few months ago, Musashi announced another excellent optics, which is the Takumi 2 29-120mm T2.9 for a full-frame sensor. This lens was presented at Cine Gear (see the pictures in the article).

Takumi 2 29-120mm T2.9 FF Cinema Zoom

The Takumi 2 29-120mm T2.9 FF is a very similar lens to the first Takumi (23.9-195mm T2.9) but with one big difference. This lens covers a full-frame sensor as opposed to the Takimu (1) 29-120mm that covers Super 35. In this article you can explore both lenses, one is paired with the Canon C700 FF Cinema EOS, and the other (Super 35 glass) is paired with the RED Gemini.
