Review and Insights

We highly recommend reading our comprehensive review of the app. We edited and graded a short video using only the app. For now, Resolve for iPad includes ‘only’ the Cut and Color page. Hence, it’s not enough for precise editing. However, if you want just to organize and prepare your footage for color grading, then this interface will be solid for that. Also, it will hold a rough cut for short clips as well. Editors will still need the Edit page, and it’s very hard to edit on an iPad. However, for the Cut page, you will not need Apple Pencil. As for the Color Page – this app exceeds our expectations. You have there everything for professional color grading. And we couldn’t emphasize more how much fan it is to color grade on a touch screen, like the iPad. Thus, to summarize: you can open (or create) a project, rough edit it, and prepare it for grading, then do almost all your advanced grading within the app, which is awesome! As for the minimum requirements, you will need an iPad OS 16.0 or later and a device with the A12 Bionic chip or later. We tested on an M1 machine – and it was pretty heavy for that. The app demands power, as it consumes a lot of it! So it’s recommended to have the most powerful iPad in your hands. Also, more screen real estate is highly recommended.
