Wide angle anamorphic price remained unchanged

As mentioned, both Orion 21mm and 25mm (including the 32mm) remain unchanged regarding the price. The most expensive anamorphic glass is obviously the wider ones, which are 21mm and 25mm X2 anamorphic primes, with a price tag of $15,000 each. BTW, explore this wide-angle anamorphic comparison, made by Atlas between 21mm and 25mm. Furthermore, there’s no price change (for now) regarding the Mercury X1.5 anamorphic series.

Summary

Atlas’ motto was “Anamorphic for all”. Nevertheless, from next month, Orion’s glass will start at $10,000. There are definitely more affordable options in the market, especially covering Super 35 sensors. However, more and more high-end productions are using the Atlas Orion lenses. For instance, the Atlas Orion was paired with the ARRICAM LT when shooting Don’t Look Up. Also, the Orion anamorphic primes were utilized among other lenses paired on the ARRI ALEXA Mini on the Academy Awards nominee, Everything Everywhere All at Once. Hence, those lenses are being used by top-notch cinematographers, and Atlas feels the need and justification for raising the prices.
