This is one of the rare times when I start watching test footage to evaluate a camera, but by the end of it I forgot why I was watching and just enjoy what I am seeing

Precise as RED, clean as ALEXA

The visuals of the test footage are extraordinary. As stated in one of the comments:” This is one of the rare times when I start watching test footage to evaluate a camera, but by the end of it I forgot why I was watching and just enjoy what I am seeing.”

That is not a complicated shot. Furthermore, all the shots were performed in natural light. However, you can see the details, the high dynamic range, the slow-motion capabilities, but most importantly, the awe-inspiring color science of the URSA Mini Pro G2. This camera indeed produces beautiful imagery.

Technical info

The video was shot in Blackmagic RAW 8:1 and 12:1 at 120fps, 150fps, and 300 fps, with the Sigma ART 18-35mm, 50mm, and 150-600mm.  Edited and graded in Davinci Resolve.

URSA Mini Pro G2

We wrote a few articles regarding the G2. According to Blackmagic Design, the camera is a dramatic advancement over the original model as it now features entirely new electronics for higher speed processing. The G2 allows recording at full sensor 4.6K images at up to 120 frames per second, windowed 4K DCI at up 150 frames per second, and windowed 1080 HD at an astounding 300 frames per second. These are quite impressive performances within the price point which is similar to the previews first generation URSA Pro model ($6,000).

That is not the first test video of the G2. Here you can find more slow-motion test footage.

However, in my personal opinion, this is the most convincing video as the visuals are tremendous, so sit back, relax and enjoy the video:

  1. Difficult to judge on a YT video but I have to say I preferred this Ursa mini G2 over the RED look, is true I am used to shoot 90% of the time on ARRI’s cameras and I am not an huge RED fan but still… This footage impress me seriously.
