Avid Announces a Free 90-day license for Customers Affected by Coronavirus

Avid is providing temporary licenses of creative tools to customers at no charge. Starting today, March 16, through Friday, April 17, users who are working from home due to the COVID-19 outbreak, may obtain 90-day licenses free of charge for Media Composer | Ultimate, Pro Tools, Pro Tools | Ultimate, and Sibelius | Ultimate. Temporary licenses for customers affected by COVID-19

As stated by Avid: “To assist our community in delivering their projects and assignments while working remotely due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Avid is providing temporary licenses of our creative tools to customers at no charge. Starting today, March 16, through Friday, April 17, users who are working from home may obtain 90-day licenses free of charge for Media Composer | Ultimate, Pro Tools, Pro Tools | Ultimate, and Sibelius | Ultimate”.

Solutions for students

In addition, any student of an institution who uses Avid products and can no longer attend school and/or access school facilities (due to Coronavirus situation) can receive a 90-day license of the same products.

Eligibility

The temporary licenses will only be provided to a user whose company or educational institution owns the same product being requested, and the product is either on an active subscription or under an active upgrade and support contract. A maximum of one license will be provided per one owned, and the license will be provided for 90 days.

Final thoughts

That is a smart move by Avid, as for today, many editors and post-production professionals are forced to work from home. We are expecting to see other post-production software who pick up the slack regarding facilitating workflow in this delicate COVID-19 situation. For instance, Adobe helps the community as well by making temporary at-home access to Creative Cloud (go to this link for further instructions). There is no doubt that COVID-19 is elevating the challenges in the filmmaking industry, which made us think and act creatively.
