COVID-19 adaptation of Post-production software

The ability to work from home during the COVID-19 social distancing limitation is an essential asset. We’ve reported on AVID providing temporary licenses of creative tools to customers at no charge, to allow the privilege of working remotely. ADOBE has also made some effort focusing on students that forced staying at home, by making temporary at-home access to Creative Cloud available until May 31, 2020. However, ADOBE’s offer is relevant for schools and colleges who currently have only lab access for students at no additional cost. Nevertheless, thanks to individuals like George Rohac and Yehju Park, an informal pathway to get two months free of Creative Cloud has been revealed.

First, it needs to be emphasized that this is not a formal announcement from ADOBE regarding this offer. As far as we know is that it only works for current adobe users, and it doesn’t work if your next billing date is within the next 48 hrs. So this is how to get it: Follow steps 1 -4:

  1. Log In to Your CC Account
  2. Cancel Your Plan
  3. Go Through the Cancellation Steps
  4. Accept the Offer

For further demonstration of the process, watch the tweet below:

Insights

There is a probability that the method above will not work for everyone. Also, according to users, ADOBE doesn’t shave off two months, but pull you back into the contract, and add these two extra months to your new 12-month contract. A German user claims that “Doesn’t seem to work in Germany (and maybe the rest of the EU). If I try to cancel, they remind me that canceling will mean they charge the rest of the year instantly, nothing else”. However, a user from Switzerland says that “It worked for me in Switzerland. All you have to do is go one step further after the “we will charge you XX instantly…” warning appears.”. Nevertheless, it works for most of the users, saving them more than 100 USD instantly. Go ahead and try for yourself.

  1. This isn’t ADOBE offering this. It’s standard when you want to cancel to get you to stay. Dumb blogs just looking for clicks make it look like some special offer.
