RED – a fast-paced camera company

RED Digital Cinema is a well known fast-paced company with high innovation tempo. Unfortunately, RED doesn’t inform us about media news regarding future products and press releases. We just have to get the news as it happens, which means, theoretically, tomorrow the DSMC3 can be announced like a bombshell.

However, hypothetically, let’s suppose that RED Digital Cinema is asking us what do we want to see on the DSMC3 line? For that matter, we dig a little bit on REDuser forum and found a wish list thread that contains some useful info in regard. Take a look at the featured topics below.

DSMC3 Wish List: the most featured requests

  1. Faster Boot Times
  2. Audio improvements
  3. Internal ND
  4. Professional audio module
  5. Better lowlight performance (besides Gemini)

  7. No black shading needed (without sensor calibration)
  8. Display: smoother and more responsive menu/ touchscreen
  9. Better GUI (Graphical User Interface)

Finally, as an epilogue, we’d like to add Marques Brownie’s tweet. Marques said that he would pay anything for a RED camera that owns: Canon Dual Pixel AF, Canon battery life, Canon XLR + Preamps, and Canon internal ND.

Look at the tweet below:

Final thoughts

It’s a good and logical list. I’m pretty sure some of the requested features and improvements will be implemented in the new RED line (DSMC3). There are definitely some valid requests in that list.
