Modules have been removed from HYDROGEN’s site

It has been a stormy night at the RED HYDROGEN ONE community, after the mysterious removal of all mentions of the HYDROGEN ONE modules from its website. The removal of the modules from the HYDROGEN’s marketing page caused some bitterness for HYDROGEN ONE users that were looking forward to the guaranteed modules. The modules indeed were the promised land for RED’s smartphone and put a lot of hopes in HYDROGEN users. The speculations have been initiated by the tech blogs, describing the end of the RED’s phone.

Elimination or innovation?

As I have said before, everything can and will change. A series of obstacles and then new discoveries have given us the opportunity to significantly improve the entire program.

After a few hours, Jim (RED’s founder) has posted a statement on H4Vuser says that the HYDROGEN program undergoes dramatic changes as described:

“Some have noticed that we have taken down the images of the 2D module from our website. The reason for that is because we are currently in the middle of radically changing the HYDROGEN program. As I have said before, everything can and will change. A series of obstacles and then new discoveries have given us the opportunity to significantly improve the entire program, not only for HYDROGEN but also for RED. The changes create new opportunities to better satisfy the professional image capture customers as well as the casual consumer for the HYDROGEN program. The RED team, led by Jarred Land, as of now will now be fully in charge of the professional image capture program for HYDROGEN and the HYDROGEN team is fully engaged on the new in-device image capture system. Both are major advancements to what was previously posted. We are excited to share details as soon as we file the patents and lock down the changes and are all pretty excited about what is coming…As a side note… all HYDROGEN customers will be “obsolescence obsolete” when buying into the new professional image capture program…One more clarification… “obsolescence obsolete” for HYDROGEN owners means that your H1 is NOT obsolete when the Pro camera version comes out. Not sure how this got twisted up.”

“Obsolescence Obsolete” – New Pro camera version

From this point, we can only speculate.

Between the lines, it sounds like a new device with a new professional image capture system and a new in-device image capture system. However, only those opting for the professional image capture system will be obsolescence obsolete. No words on modules. Apparently, modules are out of the game. The big question remains, what is the “new professional image capture program”? Is it a new pro camera version? How will it be implemented in the device? We’ll have to wait and see.

“Obsolescence obsolete” for HYDROGEN owners means that your H1 is NOT obsolete when the Pro camera version comes out. Not sure how this got twisted up.

We’ll keep you posted regarding further developments. Stay tuned.
