OFG (Old Fast Glass) has picked up the gauntlet and made a custom rig for the Fujifilm GFX100 II, titled OFG Customs 65 (named on the 65-sized sensor). The goal was to create a professionally built Fujifilm GFX100 II for high-end productions. Check it out.
OFG Customs 65
No, that’s not the ARRI ALEXA 65, but a Fujifilm GFX100 II medium format mirrorless camera that was customized for professional use by OFG (Old Fast Glass). The GFX100 II is Fujifilm’s new flagship. This camera is NOT defined as Mark II, but a completely new camera with a newly designed medium format and fast sensor that is 2nd largest sensor behind the acclaimed ARRI ALEXA 65. Well, it’s not exactly medium format, but a very large sensor camera, which has a lot of potential. Thus, OFG has picked up the gauntlet to build a studio version of it so this great camera can be utilized on high-end projects as well.
Maximizing the full potential of the GFX100 II
As stated by OFG: “With the release of the Fujifilm GFX100 II, we knew we wanted to develop a camera system that would harness the full potential of this camera. It has one of the largest available sensors for cinematography approaching the size of the ARRI ALEXA 65. We modified the camera and designed a new housing that completely integrates the camera, RAW Recorder, video/power distro, cooling system, cage, handle/EVF, and baseplate systems, ready for the demands of professional sets. We wanted to remove the mess of cables, rods, adapters, and messy builds that come with using compact mirrorless cameras. In short, we wanted you to pull the camera out of the case, attach a battery and lens, and you’re ready to shoot”.

OFG explains: “Why make a GFX100 II bigger? It’s already a capable, compact camera ready to shoot professional video. But we wanted the full-size, ‘Studio’ camera version with more functionality. Now you can go into the field with an OFG Customs 65 as an A-Cam, and take a couple of standard GFX100 II as your B and C-Cams, and they will all give you the same gorgeous images, but in different form factors for different needs. The 65 is on sticks, dolly, crane, or handheld, while the stripped-down GFX100 II can be on a gimbal, car mount, or even crash cam. And they will all be giving post-production the same look, and the same codec, making both set and post-production easier”.
