AstroDesign starts to sell the 8K camera from BOSMA. The BOSMA G1 8K was designed as an ultra-high-resolution alternative for those who want to shoot 8K without breaking the bank. It’s capable of shooting 8K 30p and 4K 60p from its MFT-sized sensor.

BOSMA G1 8K

Founded in 2000 in Guangzhou, China, BOSMA is a manufacturer that has been involved in the development of optical equipment such as telescopes and binoculars. In recent years, they have been focusing on IoT products such as smart cameras. As stated in the press release (translated from Japanese) by AstroDesign – shortly known as Astro (“The mother of 8K“): “AstroDesign has started selling the DC0200 (BOSMA G1 8K) small camera that supports shooting, recording, playback, and streaming of 8K30p video. Utilizing high mobility and operability, the BOSMA G1 8K high-resolution video streaming can be implemented in a wide range of fields such as live video distribution and aerial videography”. The BOSMA G1 8K owns a Micro Four Thirds mount within a compact form factor. Furthermore, Astro says that the  BOSMA G1 8K is characterized by a low (affordable) price tag.

Price

Although the BOSMA G1 8K is defined as an affordable 8K camera, there’s no info regarding price. However, we found a video from CES 2020 interviewing a BOSMA representative that says the price is around $5,000. Well, if Astro wants to sell this camera and define it as “affordable” the price must be further reduced. Check out the interview below:

Test/ sample footage

Unfortunately, we’ve not found any evidence for footage. The company hasn’t released any test videos that show the capability of the camera. We’ll update the article if any BOSMA G1 8K footage popped out.
