The new NVIDIA Studio Driver (March release) helps to enhance the performances on heavy-duty AI tasks. On this cool demonstration, performed on the newest Studio Laptop (with GeForce RTX 30 series GPU), we explore the potential of the technology, by activating DaVinci Resolve Neural Engine to allow the AI-Based Magic Mask feature. DaVinci Resolve AI-based Magic Mask

The AI-based Magic Mask uses the DaVinci Neural Engine to automatically create masks for an entire person or specific features such as face or arms. Creators get matte finesse tools, the ability to add and remove strokes, and automatic tracking. Improvements to DaVinci Neural Engine, in Blackmagic Design’s DaVinci Resolve 17, alongside new tools like Magic Mask that effortlessly select and remove people from backgrounds, make creating easier.

Now, this process has been accelerated with the release of the new NVIDIA Studio Driver. The March Studio Driver (release 461.92) is available to download from here

Final insights

AI-based operations regarding editing and color grading have been always welcomed. However, the huge amount of calculations needed, impaired the efficiency, especially when executed on a laptop. Luckily, with the born of new technology (M1, RTX Studio, GPS, and more), these features can be performed on-the-go.
