SonyCine has released the BURANO’s Recording Format and Recording Times posters along with some essential educational assets regarding the BURANO. One of these cool materials is the simulator.  Check them out.

Sony BURANO

The new BURANO is the latest addition to Sony’s prestigious CineAlta lineup. It combines exceptional image quality with high mobility. Compact, versatile, and flexible, the BURANO is the world’s first digital cinema camera with a PL-Mount to feature in-body image stabilization and autofocus.   1. I don’t understand one thing: if we compare 8.6k and 6k FF in 16:9, the size provided on the slide with formats becomes impossible. In reality, we have a drop from almost 42 million pixels to around 20.6 million pixels.
    If we assume that 8632 pixels represent 35.9mm in width, then 6052 pixels would give us 25.16mm, not the 33.6mm that Sony claims. This is a huge change, not just a slight crop as the marketing brochure suggests.

    Either I am mistaken, or Sony is “accidentally” trying to enhance the capabilities of the new one to sell it. I am very skeptical about Sony’s innovations because life has already taught me that there is always a hidden catch somewhere, but lying so blatantly is not appropriate.
