IMAX Q4 and full year 2023 IMAX Corporation Earnings Conference Call

IMAX has published its Q4 and full-year 2023 presentations, revealing some interesting materials. For instance, IMAX shares a bit regarding its cloud technology titled “Cloud Optimized”. According to the company, the IMAX Film Remastering software process is now available in the cloud. Additionally, IMAX elaborated that the cloud-delivered service was developed to enhance the digital image using techniques such as sharpening, color correction, grain and noise removal, and the elimination of unsteadiness and removal of unwanted artifacts. Moreover, IMAX mentioned that Cloud-based Film Remastering allows IMAX to further its local language strategy while improving operating expenses.

The feedback I am getting is that If you want to launch a blockbuster, you need IMAX to be part of it. This is not just from low-level filmmakers, but this is from senior studio executives.

Final words from the CEO

Last but not least, IMAX CEO Richard Gelfond, has emphasized the importance of IMAX in modern high-end filmmaking by stating: “The feedback I am getting is that If you want to launch a blockbuster, you need IMAX to be part of it. This is not just from low-level filmmakers, but this is from senior studio executives. The groundwork has really been laid. The IMAX DNA helps to sales growth – This is the future of cinema”. We totally agree with him. Unfortunately, Gelfond didn’t mention the upcoming new fleet of 2nd generation of IMAX cameras. The presentation says: “Developing and expect to deploy at least 4 new film cameras in the next several years”. However, the launch was planned for 2024. And we doubt that these new 65mm film cameras will be ready by the end of this year. But let’s hope they will.
